DMCA & Copyright Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-02
1. Our role
HeyWatch provides network infrastructure (subdomain + encrypted tunnel) for users running their own media servers. We do not host, store, transcode, or have technical access to content that passes through the tunnel. Each subscriber operates their own server on their own hardware.
This policy describes how we respond to copyright complaints regarding content that subscribers may be making accessible via their HeyWatch Online Access subdomain.
2. Filing a notice (rightsholders)
If you are a copyright owner or authorized agent and believe a subscriber's HeyWatch subdomain is being used to infringe your copyrights, please send a notice to [email protected] with the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (or a representative list if multiple works).
- The specific URL on the HeyWatch subdomain where the infringing material is accessible (e.g.,
https://abc123.heywatch.tv/path). General complaints without specific URLs cannot be processed because we do not have content visibility. - Your contact information (name, address, phone, email).
- A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.
3. What we will do
Upon receipt of a valid notice:
- Acknowledge receipt to the rightsholder within 5 business days.
- Forward the notice to the subscriber so they can take down the material or file a counter-notice.
- If the subscriber does not respond within 10 business days, we may suspend the subdomain.
- Repeat infringers will have their account terminated.
What we cannot do: because we do not have content visibility, we cannot remove specific files. We can only suspend or terminate the entire subdomain/tunnel.
4. Counter-notice (subscribers)
If you believe your subdomain was suspended in error or the material was misidentified, send a counter-notice to [email protected] with:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed/suspended and its location.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was suspended as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, phone, and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or for any judicial district in which HeyWatch may be found if you are outside the US).
Upon receipt of a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant. If they do not file a lawsuit within 10 business days, we may restore the subdomain.
5. Repeat infringer policy
Subscribers who receive multiple valid DMCA notices that are not successfully counter-noticed will have their Online Access subscription terminated. We track DMCA history per subscriber email.
6. Designated agent
Designated DMCA agent:
- Email: [email protected]
- Physical address: (To be registered with the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory before exit from private beta.)
